Labs
Blood work, or labs are a part of the client/patient experience in all medical settings. Certain medications prescribed to our clients need to monitored routinely. These medications include:
Lamictal (lamotrigine)
Depakote (valproic acid)
Tegretol (carbamazepine)
Medication Side Effects
Every medication prescribed have the potential to cause side effects. Whether this is nausea or liver damage, medications have the potential to cause damage to our bodies.
Normal labs such as:
HgBA1C (for diabetes)
LFT’s or Liver Function studies (for liver function)
Lipids (for cholesterol/triglycerides/fats in the blood)
CBC (to check normal body chemistries)
BMP or CMP (to check kidneys and common electrolytes such as potassium)
Female Hormone Panel (for women experiencing menopausal symptoms)
Male Hormone Panel (for men experiencing the effects of low testosterone)
Our medical record system allows for direct access to labs for timely review. Our providers can email a request for labs electronically to either Quest or LabCorp and have your results back in less than 48 hours (not including weekends). If there are abnormalities, you will receive a phone call or a letter in the mail with our treatment plan. If no abnormalities are found, rest easy, no call or letter will be needed. Our providers always review lab work at appointments.
